Want to make perfect Pancakes ? try this ..

by Maryam on June 20, 2010

Each time I eat a good pancakes outside I wounder if I would ever have the chance to make my own good pancakes. I know it is easy to prepare and the ingredients are available everywhere, however I didn’t find a recipe that gives me the taste and texture of pancakes I’m seeking.

And each time I eat a good pancakes outside I feel jealous and sorrowful, how come I can’t enjoy this taste at home whenever I want. That’s why I finally decided to search for a good recipe, try it, and if turned to be what I’m searching for I will post it here and keep it in my recipes folder as well.

I found this pancake recipe in allrecipes website, as always .. and I think I became an allrecipes fan, it had approximately three hundred five star reviews. I couldn’t resist not giving it a chance. At the beginning I expected it to be difficult somehow, but I didn’t! It was the easiest recipe I ever made since long time ago. It’s even easier than preparing a mozzarella salad!

The recipe doesn’t require any cooking skills, the ingredients are easy to memorize, and the whole thing can be prepared within five minutes and cooked in another ten minutes.

Honestly, I didn’t expect it will be so good. The tips mentioned in the reviews were as good as the recipe itself. The first helpful tip was to refrigerate the batter for 20-30 minutes. You can also add any flavor you want before placing the batter on heat; cinnamon, chocolate, chocolate chips, etc. The batter also can be frozen if you want to prepare it in advance. Many people mentioned that they have added vanilla to the recipe which I didn’t do, and beleive me, after eating four pancakes I didn’t found it necessary to add it to the ingredients.

Making perfect Pancakes

Serving 3 – 4 medium size pancakes, adapted from allrecipes.com

1 cup all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon white sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup milk
1 egg
2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Making Pancake

1. Preheat a lightly oiled griddle over low-medium heat.

2. Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Make a well in the center. In a separate bowl, beat together egg, milk and oil. Pour milk mixture into flour mixture. Beat until smooth.

3. Pour or scoop the batter onto the hot griddle, using approximately 1/4 cup for each pancake. Brown on both sides.

4. garnish with butter on top and serve hot.

enjoy with love,

I LOVE pancakes
This recipe is similar to mine, I just add one more egg, 1 more tbsp sugar, and one more tbsp vegetable oil, and my husband says it’s the best pancake he has ever tasted :)
Nice try, and I think I’ll give it a try with this recipe & tip :), thanks for the share.

Maryam, didn’t this recipe have a tip regarding refrigerating the mix for 20-30 mins? I’m going to make pancakes for breakfast tomorrow. What difference does the refrigeration make?

Subway Mom September 16, 2010 at 9:10 pm

Oh, and, Maryam, should I just triple the recipe to make enough pancakes for my family (we have 2 kids)??

Maryam September 16, 2010 at 11:18 pm

Dear Subway Mom, yes, refrigerating the mix for 20-30 mins will give the baking powder time to act and the gluten time to settle. I did mention this in the post, but I did miss to mention it again in the “Making Pancake” steps! And regarding your second question, the portion of these pancakes is enough for two adults. So I think doubling the recipe is more than enough! Hope this answers your questions. And for you breakfast tomorrow “bon appetit” in advance :)

Hey, Maryam, I made the pancakes… yum yum yummmy!!
Unfortunately, the maple syrup I had bought from Sultan (the one in a glass bottle) turned out to be YUCKY! :(
I ended up using the amounts you mentioned and making Scrambled eggs, sausages and hash browns (also a recipe off allrecipes.com (http://bit.ly/Li82I)… Yum yum yummmy :)

Dear subway mom, I’m happy to hear that, well, for the next time you can buy American maple syrup which tastes so good. You can find them in sultan center or lulu hypermarket ! Wish you all the best
