Three Cheese Waffles

by Maryam on April 9, 2010

I have a believe that every three cheese dish will most likely be delicious. However, I didn’t think that there is savory waffles until I saw this recipe! Waffles always meant something sweet to me. Something that can be eaten with honey, syrup, butter, jam, etc. Which is not the case today.

There are three types of people. The first type always eat the same meals again and again, limiting themselves with a number of recipes. They don’t like to change or eat something new. The second type are a little bit open for new things with some conditions. They don’t like some kind of fruits or vegetable or whatever it is, so they may try something new but without including the ingredients they don’t like, by the way I consider myself one of them. The third type is completely open for everything new, I know I can not be one of them!

So, I’m open for new savory waffles recipe. When I saw the recipe I decided to give it a try. However, I didn’t to eat it alone thats why I added my favorite fried tomato-eggs recipe to it. The result was marvelous and the cheese waffles are really good.

For cheese lovers I tell you something, you can add a forth kind of cheese to the waffles for topping if you want. Using your favorite Spread cheese will be as delicious as you can imagen.

Three Cheese Waffles

Three cheese waffles recipe adapted from Astray.com, serves two persons .

Tomatoes and egg ingredients

1 egg

3-4 mini tomatoes

2 tablespoons oil

Cheese waffles ingredients

2 eggs

1 3/4 cup milk

1/3 cup vegetable oil ( less oil more cheese to use, up to 1/4)

2 cups all purpose flour

4 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

3 cups cheese ( one cup from each king)

Making the waffles

Heat waffle iron. Beat eggs until fluffy, beat in remaining ingredients just until smooth. Pour batter from cup onto center of hot waffle iron.To get big size waffles fell the iron with batter or to get smaller waffles pour the batter in the middle only. Cook as directed by manufacturer. Remove carefully. Serves 6-7 big waffles. If the waffles are coming out too greasy, reduce oil, not cheese.

Making the egg

Heat one tablespoon of oil in frying pan on a medium heat. cook till well done add salt and pepper and serve on top of the waffles. You can make any kind of eggs you prefer.

Making the tomatoes

In the same frying pan, add the remaining oil (one tablespoon) after removing the egg. Cut the mini tomatoes to halfs, and place them on the hot oil for 3-5 minutes on both sides. Serve beside the waffles.

enjoy with love,

Maryam

I’ve never really thought about putting cheese into waffle batter and make a savory waffle, but it’s a great idea! And with those tomatoes I would be all over this breakfast :D
