Dry figs topped with walnuts cinnamon and honey

by Maryam on December 26, 2009

I think that I became more expert in creating my own dishes ! Although they are so easy, simple and contain few ingredients but in the same time I’m so happy to know that I have switched my thinking direction to the creative mode. I have bought few pieces of dry figs but I didn’t know what to do with them. So I decided to search for a simple dessert recipe that contain figs as a main ingredient. Well, I found a lot ,but none of them was the one I’m searching for! So at the end, I decided to create my own recipe and try the taste, at the end I will not lose anything by trying something new.

As a kid, I used to hate figs so much, that I refused even to try them. Each time my mother used to ask me to taste it, I refused immediately. Today, the picture is completely the opposite! I’m in front of the laptop searching for a fig recipe. The interesting thing is that the taste will change and differ over the years.

This dessert is delicious especially in a cold day with hot drink! You can also have it as a sweet breakfast.

From the title you can guess what the ingredients are, and how to make it!

The ingredients

2 dry figs

pinch of chestnut crushed

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon powder

1/2 teaspoon honey

Method

Mix the crushed chestnuts with the cinnamon powder. Wash the dry figs thoroughly, then place them on the serving plate. Put the chestnut cinnamon powder mixture on top. Using a small spoon, pour the honey on the whole fig and the topping randomly.

On top 9 ..

When I thought of this recipe, it didn’t come to my mind that it would be in the foodbuzz first page!

Today it is .. and the 2nd

I’m so happy for that and thanks for all the people who voted for the recipe ..

enjoy with love,

Maryam

My mom makes the best dry figs. I never eat them green. We do not really wash them before eating them though, first time I hear about dried figs being washed. I think they get washed in the process of drying them. Here people eat them with walnuts, but I guess chestnuts are a good alternative.

If I dry them by myself I would eat them without washing.

Figs + honey is a match made in heaven. My brother hates figs, but I think he’s crazy. I will have to make these and make him agree with me that figs rule.

at the beginning, I thought to title the recipe “taste from haven”.. but I was afraid that who reads may miss understand the meaning. at the end I decided to name it by its ingredients

This is one of my favorite dessert. I stuff dried figs with walnut and then cook. Yours sound more practical and I love the idea of using chestnut in it. and the photo is gorgeous! So being on foodbuzz first page is something well deserved for this lovely dessert!
