When you want to make a salad, I suggest to ensure that its ingredients are fresh ! eating salad means eating healthy, fresh and delicious food. Many people today use caned food to speed up there cooking , to save their precious time which is needed for something “more important” to do within it. The question here is, is there is anything more important than your health ? if you are healthy you can have or do anything you want , but if you are not then you have nothing !
I don’t want my post to be so serious about health topics. Life is fun and enjoyable, we are here to take the advantage of it and to keep having fun. Wayne W. Dyer in his book you will see it when you believe it, discuss very important concept which called oneness, and how the oneness concept works. This concept tell us that if a number of people started to think in the same way, a non visible force will be generated to make it this thought happens.
This is the main aim of my post today ! if we (me and you) started to ensure that our salads contains fresh ingredients by time this idea may be global. You are what you eat, the more fresh you are eating the more fresh you become ! I decided today to introduce you to a very will known salad which is Beet Salad, very simple and very easy. Couple of things to do and your salad is ready to be served. The critical point here is that I’m using fresh beets not caned.
So lets start, first thing fresh ! That means how to select your beets at the grocery ? choose small or medium sized beets, and make sure that they have smooth skin and deep in color. What to avoid ? beets with bruises, spots and wet areas. If you want to store the raw beets you can put them unwashed in the refrigerator for two to four weeks. Remember don’t froze raw beets.
This recipe it took it from my mother, it is simple, easy and tasty. For preparing the ingredients you need beets, garlic, salt, pepper and lemon. The recipe I’m going to write serves 4 people.
Now for the ingredients
4 medium sized beets
3 garlic gloves
little amount of salt and pepper (depends on your preferences)
Wash beets under gently under cool running water to minimize bleeding.
Trim greens and cook the beets in boiling water. Make sure that the water covers them. Leave to simmer gently for 1 to 2 hours. Timing may differs depending on what you are using, for example, if you are using pressure-cooker you can reduce time to 20-30 minutes.
To check if the beets are done or not, you can insert a fork into the beets, if the fork went through the beets gently then you can take it off.
To serve beet salads faster. If you want to precook the beets and freeze it till serving its fine, flavor and texture will not change.
Don’t throw the greens away cook them like spinach, they’re delicious.
